Quick answer
- Kingdom’s major battles run from the Battle at Dakan Plains (245 BC, Ch. 48–73) to the Great Qin–Zhao War that began at Ch. 845 (229 BC) and is still running in September 2026.
- Qin beats Wei early on, survives the Coalition invasion at Kankoku Pass and Sai (241 BC), and takes Gyou (Ye) from Zhao in the longest arc (Ch. 496–642).
- Qin does not win every war: Ou Ki dies at Bayou, Kan Ki is killed at Hika (233 BC) and Ou Sen’s army is crushed at Hango (232 BC), all against Zhao.
- The anime has reached the start of the Gyou campaign (Season 6, Ep. 143–155, up to Ch. 540); a second cour has been announced.
Here is every major battle and arc in Kingdom in story order, with the year, the enemy, the winner and the chapters. In short: Qin wins the early wars against Wei, survives the Coalition invasion at Kankoku Pass and Sai, takes Gyou (Ye) from Zhao, then suffers two straight defeats to Ri Boku (Li Mu) at Hika and Hango. After conquering Han, Qin is now marching on the Zhao capital, Kantan (Handan).
Names use the Japanese readings from the manga, with the Chinese (pinyin) name in parentheses on first mention. Years are the manga’s own dating (BC). Chapter ranges come from the Kingdom Wiki’s arc lists; anime episodes use overall numbering (Season 1 = 1–38, S2 = 39–77, S3 = 78–103, S4 = 104–129, S5 = 130–142, S6 = 143–155). Spoilers up to the Great Qin–Zhao War arc (Ch. 845 onward, current as of September 2026).

Season 1 and Season 2 of the anime reorder some early arcs. The Escape from Zhao flashback, for example, airs in Season 2.
Which Kingdom arcs has the anime covered?
- Season 1 (Ep. 1–38): Chapters 1–173, from the rebellion to the death of Ou Ki at Bayou.
- Season 2 (Ep. 39–77): The Escape from Zhao flashback plus Ch. 174–261, including the Sanyou Campaign.
- Season 3 (Ep. 78–103): The Coalition invasion, Kankoku Pass and Sai (Ch. 261–364).
- Season 4 (Ep. 104–129): Tonryuu, the Fire Dragons of Wei and the State of Ai (Ch. 364–441).
- Season 5 (Ep. 130–142, 2024): The Battle of Kokuyou Hills (Ch. 441–489).
- Season 6 (Ep. 143–155, Oct–Dec 2025): The start of the Gyou campaign, Ch. 490–540.
A second cour of Season 6 was announced right after the Season 6 finale in December 2025. It picks up the Gyou campaign, so the Battle at Shukai Plains is the next big war on screen. Everything from Chapter 541 on, including Hou Ken’s death and all the defeats below, is manga-only for now.
Battle of Sai: Qin’s last line of defense
The Battle of Sai is the climax of the Coalition invasion (241 BC). While most of Qin’s army is pinned at Kankoku Pass (Hangu Pass), Ri Boku’s Zhao force slips around by the southern route. Duke Hyou falls to Hou Ken (Pang Nuan) at the Battle of the Southern Path, and Zhao heads for the capital.
Sai (Zui) is the last city before Kanyou. It has only about 5,000 soldiers, so Ei Sei himself rides out, rallies about 30,000 civilians and holds the walls. Shin fights Hou Ken on the walls and scars his face (Ch. 350). The siege ends when Yo Tan Wa’s mountain tribe army arrives, and the Coalition retreats (Ch. 351–352).
The Shiji confirms the core of this. The Zhao chronicle says Pang Nuan led elite troops from Zhao, Chu, Wei and Yan against Qin at Zui and “did not take it.”
Battle of Ye (Gyou): the longest war in the manga
The Gyou campaign is the biggest arc in the series at 147 chapters (Ch. 496–642), longer than the Coalition invasion. Ou Sen (Wang Jian) leads the invasion of Zhao in 236 BC. The war goes through four stages:
- Siege of Retsubi (Liewei). Qin takes Zhao’s border gate (Ch. 505–512).
- March on Gyou. Ou Sen surrounds Gyou and floods it with refugees to drain its food.
- Battle at Shukai Plains and Battle of Ryouyou. Ou Sen fights Ri Boku on the plain while Yo Tan Wa holds the western front at Ryouyou (Liaoyang). On the 15th day, Shin kills Hou Ken (Ch. 628).
- Fall of Gyou. Ri Boku retreats and is arrested; Gyou surrenders (Ch. 640).
History agrees on the result. The Shiji records that in 236 BC Wang Jian, Huan Yi and Yang Duanhe attacked Ye and took nine cities, and Wang Jian took Eyu and Liaoyang.
Did Qin keep winning? The two defeats
No. After Gyou, Qin loses two big battles in a row to Ri Boku.
Gian and Hika (233 BC). Kan Ki (Huan Yi) pushes deep into northern Zhao. Ri Boku traps his army, and Kan Ki is killed at Hika (Ch. 702–755). The historical record is split here. The Qin annals say Qin “took Yi’an.” The Zhao chronicle and Li Mu’s biography say Li Mu beat Qin at Feixia and Huan Yi “fled.” Only the later Zhan Guo Ce has Huan Yi killed. For what that means for the rest of the story, see our guide to Kingdom’s real history.
Hango (232 BC). Ou Sen invades again. His top generals A Kou and Den Ri Mi are killed and his army is crushed (Ch. 769–799). The Shiji says only that Qin attacked Fanwu (Hango) and Li Mu beat them back.
Who did Qin fight most? The Kingdom battle map by state
| Enemy | Battles in the table | Pattern |
|---|---|---|
| Zhao | Bayou, Sai, Tonryuu (as ally), Kokuyou, Gyou, Eikyuu, Gian–Hika, Hango, Great Qin–Zhao War | The main rival from start to finish; Qin’s only two big defeats |
| Wei | Dakan Plains, Sanyou, Choyou | Early wars, all Qin wins; later an ally |
| Chu | Kankoku Pass, Gento, Juuko | Chu is fought but never conquered so far |
| Han | Kankoku Pass, Conquest of Han | First state destroyed (230 BC) |
| Yan | Kankoku Pass | Only as part of the Coalition |
| Qi | — | Leaves the Coalition; no war with Qin yet |
Where is the Kingdom manga now?
As of September 2026, the manga is in the Great Qin–Zhao War arc, which began at Chapter 845 in 229 BC. Qin has broken Ri Boku’s defensive lines and is closing on Kantan; the Kingdom Wiki titles Chapter 876 “The Siege of Kantan.”
History spoils the broad outcome. The Shiji says Zhao’s king had Li Mu removed after Qin bribed his favorite, Guo Kai, and Handan fell in 228 BC. How and when the manga shows that is still open.
