Saint Killingham is the sleepy, qilin-headed Holy Knight who fills Elbaph with giant nightmare monsters. His Devil Fruit is the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin, a Mythical Zoan that lets him put people to sleep and pull their dreams into the real world. The monsters born from those dreams are called MMA (pronounced “Mūma”; VIZ calls them Sleeptids).
This guide covers his fruit, how MMA work, his forms, his fight with Sanji and where he stands now. It covers the manga up to Chapter 1196, the latest released chapter. Expect heavy Elbaph Arc spoilers. Nothing from leaks or unreleased chapters is included.
Who is Saint Killingham?
His full name is Saint Rimoshifu Killingham (リモシフ・キリンガム聖). He is a World Noble from the Rimoshifu Family and a member of the Holy Knights of God (Crunchyroll: Knights of God), the elite force that answers to Imu (Ch. 1140).
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Name | Saint Rimoshifu Killingham |
| Affiliation | Holy Knights of God; World Nobles (Rimoshifu Family) |
| Devil Fruit | Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin (Mythical Zoan, awakened) |
| Weapons | Trident; bow (Ch. 1149); horn to command MMA (Ch. 1151); family spear Longinus (Ch. 1189) |
| Manga debut | Chapter 1140 |
| Anime debut | Episode 1170 (Crunchyroll, July 19, 2026) |
| Japanese voice | Shinnosuke Tachibana (announced by the official One Piece staff account) |
| Status | Alive; fighting Sanji in Elbaph’s Western Village (Ch. 1196) |
Gunko summoned him to Elbaph through an Abyss together with Saint Shepherd Sommers. Killingham was not expecting it: he was running late for something else (Ch. 1140). The Knights’ plan was to kidnap giant children from the Walrus School as hostages.
Is Killingham a fish-man?
No. Killingham is a human World Noble. The confusion comes from his look: a trident and a bubble helmet with a respirator on the front.
The manga shows the opposite of a fish-man link:
- When Jinbe jumps into the water, Killingham is disgusted by him for being a fish-man. He says he is glad he wears a mask so he doesn’t have to breathe the same air (Ch. 1176).
- He keeps insulting fish-men even after he is cut to pieces (Ch. 1177).
- His bubble helmet is the resin bubble that many World Nobles wear, with an added respirator. He is the only Knight seen wearing one.
Sanji smashes the helmet with Ifrit Jambe: Concassé (Ch. 1176), but it later regenerates (Ch. 1177).
Saint Killingham’s Devil Fruit: Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin
Killingham ate the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin (VIZ: Dragon-Dragon Fruit, Model: Kirin). It is a Mythical Zoan based on the qilin (kirin in Japanese), a horned beast from Chinese myth. The fruit is named in Chapter 1143.
His abilities fall into three groups:
| Ability | What it does | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep beams | Ring-shaped beams knock targets out, even from far away. He can wake them again at will | Ch. 1142–1143 |
| Min’ei-ka (VIZ: Slumbertized) | Puts only the body to sleep: the target stays awake but can’t move | Ch. 1146 |
| Dream manifestation | Pulls objects, food or creatures out of a sleeper’s dream cloud. This makes him a “Dream-Manifesting Human” | Ch. 1143 |
The fruit is awakened: the flaming ribbon of smoke around him marks it, and he keeps his own personality while transformed (Ch. 1140). In the qilin form he is also strong. He slams the giant principal Kiba into the ground with ease (Ch. 1146).
One small but telling scene: Killingham conjures a dream meal for the Knights, then makes Sommers think of salt, puts him to sleep and pulls the salt out of his dream (Ch. 1143). Dream food tastes real but gives no actual nourishment.
What are MMA (Mūma / Sleeptids)?
MMA are monsters made from the nightmares of sleeping people. They are the dreamer’s fears given a body. In Elbaph they come from the Walrus School children, so many look like the children’s own drawings of Elbaph legends (Ch. 1142).
The name is a pun on UMA (Japanese for cryptid) and muma (夢魔, “dream demon”). VIZ’s “Sleeptids” is sleep + cryptids.
Key rules shown in the manga:
- Strength depends on the dreamer. A child’s Loki MMA was far weaker than the real Loki, as Gaban points out (Ch. 1145).
- They don’t die. MMA have no “concept of death”. Killingham can revive fallen ones on command and opens Nightmare Holes to release more (Ch. 1150–1151).
- They vanish if Killingham falls. He admits this to Sanji himself (Ch. 1187).
- They vanish if the dreamer beats the fear. The Ivankov MMA disappears once Sanji accepts what it represents (Ch. 1196).
- Reckless use backfires. After being powered up, Killingham accidentally made an MMA from his own worst fear (Ch. 1182).
Notable MMA
| MMA | Whose fear | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| Jörmungandr | Walrus School children | First MMA seen; beaten by Kiba and Saul (Ch. 1142) |
| Nika, Loki, Fenrir, Draugr, Nidhöggr | Children (Elbaph legends) | Rampage across Elbaph; Loki MMA easily beaten by Gaban (Ch. 1145) |
| The “Mothers” | Children | Bring down the flying Great Eirik; the giants can’t fight back out of fear (Ch. 1147) |
| Lindworm | Children | Swallows Zeus; destroyed by Franky and Jinbe (Ch. 1176) |
| Zaza, the Rain God | Killingham himself | Floods the Western Village and grabs children (Ch. 1182) |
| Emporio Ivankov | Sanji | Killingham fuses with it; it vanishes when Sanji overcomes his fear (Ch. 1196) |
Who is Zaza, the Rain God?
Zaza is Killingham’s own nightmare, not the children’s. Mary Geoise sits above the clouds, so World Nobles never see rain and find it terrifying. They are warned about the Rain God Zaza, said to appear to the rhythm of rain prayers, alongside Nika and the Clan of D. (Ch. 1182).
After Imu powered him up, Killingham got carried away and summoned Zaza by accident. He still controls her, and he uses her to flood the Western Village and carry off seven children (Ch. 1182). The giants learn she will only disappear if Killingham falls (Ch. 1193).
Saint Killingham’s forms (and his human face)
Killingham has three looks in the manga:
| Form | Look | Personality |
|---|---|---|
| Qilin-headed form | Qilin head and tail on a mostly humanoid body; at least twice Shamrock’s height | Lethargic, almost narcoleptic; falls asleep mid-sentence (Ch. 1140) |
| Human-beast (centaur-like) form | Human upper body on a hoofed lower body; walks on flaming clouds in the air | Loud, cruel and eager for destruction (from Ch. 1151) |
| Fused with an MMA (Yumeutsutsu; VIZ: Waking Dream) | Takes on the MMA’s appearance | Used to break Sanji’s will (Ch. 1196) |
People searching for his “human form” usually mean Chapter 1151. That is where his face is first shown: messy dark hair, slanted eyes and sharp fangs.
Is Killingham immortal? His Covenant and weakness
Yes, for now. Like the other Holy Knights, Killingham has a Covenant with Imu that makes him immortal.
- The Straw Hats (Sanji, Franky and Jinbe) beat him, cut him into head, torso and legs, and tie up the pieces so he can’t reform. He keeps talking as a severed head (Ch. 1176–1177).
- Imu cuts him free and grants him an Omen that heals and strengthens him (Ch. 1180).
- Sanji splits him in half and shreds him with Ifrit Jambe: Sky Table Kick Course. He simply reforms (Ch. 1195).
His known weakness is Conqueror’s Haki (Supreme King Haki). Sanji tells him he knows this, and Killingham mocks him for not having it (Ch. 1187). The manga has not yet shown a Knight actually killed this way.
Saint Killingham vs Sanji
This is his main fight as of Chapter 1196.
| Chapter | What happens |
|---|---|
| Ch. 1176 | Sanji crushes Killingham’s head with Concassé after he insults Jinbe |
| Ch. 1182 | Powered up by the Omen, Killingham kicks off the injured Sanji and summons Zaza |
| Ch. 1187 | Sanji targets Killingham instead of Zaza; Killingham dares him to use Conqueror’s Haki |
| Ch. 1189 | Killingham draws Longinus, the Rimoshifu Family spear and one of the First Twenty’s weapons |
| Ch. 1193 | Sanji lands a heavy kick while the giants rally against Zaza |
| Ch. 1195 | Killingham pierces Sanji’s side with God’s Lightning from Longinus and stabs him |
| Ch. 1196 | He summons Sanji’s worst fear, Emporio Ivankov, and fuses with it. Sanji overcomes it and the MMA vanishes |
The fight is still going at the end of Chapter 1196. Chapter 1197 is scheduled for November 2, 2026.
