28 canon characters have confirmed Conqueror’s Haki as of Chapter 1195. They include Luffy, Zoro, Shanks, Roger, Whitebeard, Kaidou, Big Mom, Garp, Rayleigh, Yamato and, since the Egghead and Elbaph arcs, several of the Five Elders, Imu, Gaban, Rocks, Harald and Loki. Blackbeard is not one of them yet.
Spoilers go up to Chapter 1195, the latest published chapter as of October 2026 (Chapter 1196 is scheduled for October 19). VIZ calls this power Supreme King Haki or Color of the Supreme King Haki. The anime dub and most English fans say Conqueror’s Haki, so that is the name used here. Chapter numbers are for the manga.
What is Conqueror’s Haki?
Conqueror’s Haki lets a user push their will onto others. Weak-willed people faint, animals back off, and strong fighters feel the pressure. It is the rarest of the three Haki colors.
- You are born with it. Armament and Observation Haki can be trained by anyone. Conqueror’s cannot be gained through training (Ch. 570).
- About one in several million people have it, according to Daisy on Amazon Lily (Ch. 519).
- It marks the “qualities of a king” (Ch. 519). Doflamingo’s officers followed him because of it (Ch. 782).
- It grows with the user. Rayleigh says you can learn to control it, but it only gets stronger when you get stronger (Ch. 597).
It is also the first Haki in the series. In Chapter 1, Shanks scares off the Lord of the Coast with a glare, long before the word “Haki” exists.

Three users have never used it on panel: Hancock, Kid and Sengoku. Their Haki is confirmed only by dialogue or the databook. Hancock and Kid use it in the anime and games, but not in the manga.
Which Straw Hats have Conqueror’s Haki?
Only two: Luffy and Zoro.
Luffy used it by accident several times before he knew what it was. He stopped Motobaro the bison (Ch. 495), shocked the Kuja arena (Ch. 519), knocked out wolves in Impel Down (Ch. 536) and floored Marines at Marineford (Ch. 569). After two years with Rayleigh he could aim it. On Fish-Man Island he knocked out 50,000 enemies at once (Ch. 634).
Zoro had it long before he knew. Kaidou noticed it in Zoro’s slash in Chapter 1010. Zoro infused it during the King fight while letting Enma draw out his Haki (Ch. 1033), but he still didn’t know what it was. Gaban finally told him on Elbaph (Ch. 1152). Against the immortal Sommers, Zoro remembered Mihawk’s lesson about a firm sense of self (Ch. 1194). He then infused it consistently and struck Sommers down (Ch. 1195).
Sanji is the open question. Gaban says Sanji has the potential but an unstable sense of self is holding it back (Ch. 1187). As of Chapter 1195, Sanji is still fighting Killingham and remembering that advice. He has not awakened it.
Who can infuse Conqueror’s Haki?
Infusion means wrapping Conqueror’s Haki around your body or weapon, like Armament Haki. Black lightning crackles around the strike. Kaidou says only a “handful” of users can do this (Ch. 1010).
Infusion matters more than ever in the Elbaph arc. It is the only known way to stop the Holy Knights’ immortality. Gaban’s infused axe kept Sommers from regenerating (Ch. 1149), and Loki killed Harald with an infused blow (Ch. 1170).
| User | First infused attack |
|---|---|
| Roger and Whitebeard | Their clash in the flashback (Ch. 966) |
| Kaidou | Kosanze Ragnaraku on Luffy (Ch. 1009) |
| Luffy | Punches that finally hurt Kaidou (Ch. 1010) |
| Big Mom | Punch on Page One (Ch. 1011) |
| Yamato | Clash with Kaidou (Ch. 1024) |
| Zoro | King fight, through Enma (Ch. 1033) |
| Rayleigh | Against the Blackbeard Pirates on Amazon Lily (Ch. 1059) |
| Shanks | Kamusari against Kid (Ch. 1079) |
| Garp | Galaxy Impact (Ch. 1080) |
| Gaban | Axes against Sommers (Ch. 1149) |
| Rocks | Against Roger and Garp at God Valley (Ch. 1165) |
| Loki | Ragnir against Harald (Ch. 1170) |
That is 13 people. Users who have never been shown infusing include Hancock, Doflamingo, Katakuri, Ace and Oden in the manga.
What happens when two users clash?
When two Conqueror’s Haki users collide, black lightning bursts out around them. The first time this is pointed out is Luffy vs. Chinjao in the Corrida Colosseum (Ch. 716). Luffy and Doflamingo’s clash later lights up the sky over Dressrosa (Ch. 782).
The biggest clashes “split the heavens”, tearing the clouds apart above the fighters:
| Clash | Chapter |
|---|---|
| Whitebeard vs. Shanks | Ch. 434 |
| Kaidou vs. Big Mom | Ch. 951 |
| Roger vs. Whitebeard | Ch. 966 |
| Luffy vs. Kaidou | Ch. 1026 |
| Rocks vs. Roger and Garp | Ch. 1165 |
Does Blackbeard have Conqueror’s Haki?
Not confirmed. As of Chapter 1195, Blackbeard has never used Conqueror’s Haki, and no character or databook has said he has it. Many fans expect it because he is an Emperor with a “D.” in his name, and his father, Rocks (Ch. 1154), had it (Ch. 1155). But it is still a theory.
The same goes for a few other popular names:
- Monkey D. Dragon: Doberman and Ivankov hint he has it when Luffy shows it at Marineford (Ch. 570). He has never used it.
- Sabo: no confirmation.
- Sanji: has the potential, not awakened (Ch. 1187).
Some fake-outs are worth knowing. A G-5 Marine mistook Caesar’s gas attack for Conqueror’s Haki (Ch. 672). Usopp let the Beasts Pirates think Big Mom’s Haki was his (Ch. 1024).
How does someone get Conqueror’s Haki?
You can’t learn it from scratch. You have to be born with it, and then it usually shows up in a crisis.
- Under pressure. Luffy, Ace, Doflamingo and Yamato all first released it when they were cornered and refused to give in (Ch. 519, 587, 782, 1024).
- At full power. Zoro’s first known use came when he threw his strongest attack at Kaidou (Ch. 1010).
- A strong sense of self. Mihawk says a user needs a firm and unchanging sense of self to master it (Ch. 1194). That is exactly what Gaban says Sanji is missing (Ch. 1187).
It also seems to run in families. Luffy (Garp), Ace (Roger), Katakuri (Big Mom), Yamato (Kaidou) and Loki (Harald) all have it like a parent or grandparent. Harald even says Loki carries “the blood of the Supreme King” (Ch. 1170). But it is not guaranteed: Katakuri is the only one of Big Mom’s 85 children known to have it.
As for strength, more power means more reach. Oda says Shanks or Rayleigh could have knocked out all 100,000 enemies on Fish-Man Island, where Luffy got 50,000 (SBS Vol. 65).
